“Nurturing yourself is not selfish—it’s essential to your survival and your well–being.” — Renee Peterson Trudeau
My wellness journey has been a long and winding road. From food sensitivities, food intolerance and allergies dating back to 1995, I’ve learned that I am the expert on my own body. I spent years with chronic stomach aches, fatigue, anxiety and just flat out hated the body I saw in the mirror each day.
While I have been in the wellness industry for many years, previously a personal trainer, I truly started my journey with nutrition and healing while I was pregnant with my youngest son. When I was about 6 months pregnant (also with a 4 year old at home) I found myself with severe postpartum anxiety unable to leave the house. Over the years I had completely lost myself. I had spent so much time pouring myself into my career and my new family, embracing the hustle culture we live in where it’s cool to be overworked and over tired. I spent zero time on myself and it showed. I had become overweight and sick to the point I could not leave my home due to anxiety. I knew something had to change.
I started researching and exploring. I spent time reflecting on things I’d tried in the past. Years of yo-yo dieting, never quite happy with the results, restricting entire food groups, disordered eating habits and poor self esteem… I knew this wasn’t the route I wanted to take, especially as a mother and role model.
As I started researching and exploring I remembered that I had actually worked with a friend many years ago who was an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I started cleaning up my health little by little with sustainable changes, I made DRAMATIC changes with my anxiety, energy levels and weight after only a few months. While I was going through this process, alone, I realized I had finally found my place in the world. I knew I was meant to help women similar to myself, take their lives back - to look in the mirror and love themselves. After I had lost and maintained my 75 pound weight loss I then enrolled in the top school in the US for Integrative Nutrition in New York. And the rest is history!
I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories.
I’ve been certified in Integrative Nutrition and Emotional Eating Psychology. I am currently working on my board certification with National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) who have collaborated with the National Board of Medical Examiners to provide amazing curriculum.
